We’re excited to announce another new course on the site – How to Modulate. This technical course takes secondary level students through the process of changing key in their compositions.
Senior Content Writer, Patrick Gazard has created How to Modulate to complement our range of ‘style and genre’ courses, as well as to be worked through as a stand alone tutorial.
What does the course include?
How to Modulate takes students through everything they need to change key smoothly. We start by exploring what modulating is and the reasons for changing key in a composition, before moving onto two practical sections where we learn how to modulate to twelve different keys.
Also included in the course:
- Exemplar listening
- Video content
- Audio clips
- Interactive quiz
- Score examples
- Modulation Practice downloadable sheet
- Downloadable Key Chart sheet
- Downloadable course glossary
Course Glossary
Throughout the course there are key words highlighted in bold text. Students can download the course glossary at the start of the course and look up the definitions of the words as they work through the course content.
How to use this modulation course
Every classroom is different and teachers use our courses in various ways to suit their set-up and students:
- Display at the front and work through together with the class
- Use the content to inform personal lesson planning.
- Use as part of the Classroom Access Plan where students can work through the content at their own pace.
Celebrating success
With all our courses students receive a certificate upon completion and an award badge on their personal dashboard.
